Beginner’s Mind Yoga – This is a slower paced class taking you into an exploration of yoga covering basic asanas (yoga postures) while incorporating breath with movement. Lots of attention will be given to alignment, body awareness, body control and mindfulness movement. The emphasis of this class will be on proper alignment to build strength slowly and safely. This class is appropriate for all levels.
Core Flow Yoga - Similar to Vinyasa Flow, this practice is based on synchronizing movement with breath to create a dynamic union of mind and body. An emphasis will be placed on developing strength and flexibility through the core of the body. Practice begins with breathing and centering exercises followed by a gentle warm up. Sequences of poses based on Sun Salutations will be designed to increase heat, strength, endurance and flexibility. Deep relaxation will conclude your practice. This class is appropriate for advanced beginners and intermediate practitioners.
Gentle Yoga - This class will be an exploration of yoga in a gentle and safe manner focusing on breath (pranayama) and proper anatomical alignment while using poses to encourage strength and flexibility. Guided meditation and restorative poses will also be introduced. Modifications for beginners will be given and options will be available for the more advanced student. Expect to leave this class relaxed and rejuvenated.
Hatha Yoga – Invigorating to mind, body and soul this class will include all of the essential elements of hatha yoga; breathing, movement, balance, meditation and strength. Awareness will be taught through a series of asanas (yoga postures), challenging you wherever you need it while allowing you to steadily gain discipline, strength and self-control. Each class will end with Savasana, the deep relaxation pose. Modifications will be given for beginners and options for advanced practitioners are provided throughout the class.
HealthRHYTHMS Drumming – As rhythmic beings we often find ourselves overtaken by the more hectic rhythms outside ourselves. Releasing the outside stress opens us up to reconnect with our own innate rhythm and increased feelings of well-being. This guided group drumming class includes basic instruction in the use of the instruments, exploration of basic rhythms and a relaxation component. The rhythms that develop may be those out of group participation or rhythms provided by the facilitator. The primary goal will be to encourage self-expression, release tension and reduce stress. Join us for an hour of fun and release. No prior musical experience is necessary.
Introductory Ananda Yoga
- This class begins with energization exercises designed to warm the muscles working while working joints through the full range of motion and creating total body awareness. As an introduction to the Hatha Yoga tradition, poses will offer affirmations further working the body on all levels of Mind, Body and Spirit. This class is appropriate for all levels.
Power Yoga – This class will be a vigorous practice based on synchronizing movement with breath. Practice will build heat, strength, endurance and flexibility by incorporating Sun Salutations, standing and seated postures, back bends, inversions, standing and hand balancing postures, and core strengthening. Practice will conclude with deep relaxation. This class is appropriate for advanced intermediate and intermediate practitioners.
Tea Meditation - The ritual of tea and the inner space of the Japanese tea room as metaphor will be used in this class to aid as a gateway into beginning meditation. Sitting with a cup of tea we will transition from a state of busyness to a state of stillness and awareness, allowing one to breathe deeper, create space within, and let go of tensions thus allowing creative insights to arise.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga – This class will be taught with an emphasis on synchronizing movement with breath to create a dynamic union of mind and body. Practice begins with breathing and centering exercises, followed by a gentle warm up. Sequences of poses, based on Sun Salutations, will be designed to increase heat, strength, endurance, and flexibility. Deep relaxation will conclude your practice. This class is appropriate for advanced beginners and intermediate practitioners.
Wisdom Warriors - This class is designed for the older adult population with a focus on flexibility, strength, balance and falls prevention. Using the breath, we will begin movement of joints and tissues around the joints bringing them through their full range of motion. All classes will include standing balance exercises with the assistance of a wall or chair for additional support if needed. Props will be provided. These classes are FREE and open to older adults who are 60 plus.
